Mandatory Email Password Reset

Due to a sudden increase of compromised email accounts which used simple passwords, Scarab Media is now requiring complex passwords on all email accounts effective immediately.

Just as with every other service on the Internet, your password will be required to contain a combination of Mixed Case (UPPER *and* lower case letters), with at least one number, and be a minimum of 8 characters in length, although the longer the password the more secure it is going to be. It is strongly recommended to use symbols in your password as well. For example, a strong password would be something like “MyP4$$W0rd”.

To change your password simply login to your web-based email at https://smartermail.scarabmedia.com. You will be prompted to enter a new password upon successfully logging in.

Important Note:  If you are using a smartphone or email client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) to retrieve your email via POP3 or IMAP, then you may have to update your password there as well.

Email Accounts that have not updated their password by Tuesday November 20th, 2012 will be automatically reset.

It is important to keep your email secure by using a strong password to ensure that your domain is not abused to send out Spam. Failure to maintain strong passwords for your email accounts puts all email accounts on your domain at risk of being blocked or Blacklisted by other Mail Servers; meaning that the email that you send will most likely not be seen by the recipient(s) of your email.

If you have any questions or require assistance in resetting your password feel free to contact us at support@scarabmedia.com or by phone at 541-734-7308.
