As of 1:18 pm this afternoon we received notice from one of our upstream Network Providers that Hunter Communications has been experiencing a localized regional disruption of services in Southern Oregon.

Hunter communications has experienced a fiber cut in downtown Medford.

Technicians are on-site.

This would appear to affect a major backhaul link - we will have more transparency shortly.

Scarab Media does not utilize Hunter Communications for any of it’s services, however we know many of our local area customers do use Internet Service Providers who have Hunter Communications as their Upstream Provider. If so, then you may be experiencing difficulties in reaching some of Scarab Media’s services due to this cut fiber line at Hunter.

We do not currently have an ETA for when services will be restored.

UPDATE: Services for Hunter Communications were restored at approximately 4:20 PM.

Subject: [Fiber] Emergency outage - 2012-11-20 T13:00-13:20

A fiber cut occurred today on one of our redundant links leading to the central office.

Due to hardware configuration the reconvergence/failover took longer than expected,
causing a protracted downtime.

Hunter will be upgrading and reconfiguring these links to mitigate further outages
caused by a redundant path cut.
