SSL Certificates For All

Scarab Media and Project A Inc wants your web presence to be successful but also future-proof and safer. We take security very seriously. As such, we are proud to announce that we will be introducing tools later this year (around late September 2015) that will allow all of our Hosting customers to have SSL Certificates securely encrypting connections to their websites at no additional cost.

The purpose of encrypting all web traffic using strong ephemeral encryption is to provide better security and privacy from data theft and from third-parties that may attempt to intercept, monitor, record, sniff, hijack and other forms of tampering with the connection to your website. We see this as a critical step towards building a better and safer Internet.

Free SSL Certificates will work with all modern browsers which support Server Name Indication (SNI) and will utilize strong SHA-256 2048-bit Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) certificates supporting Perfect Foward Secrecy (PFS). These certificates will cover your domain name and the first-level subdomain of www.

Once your SSL Certificate is installed, all connections to your domain will utilize HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to ensure that visitors will take advantage of this additional security, if their web browser supports it.

The following web browsers will support SNI, PFS & HSTS:

Desktop Browsers

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Internet Explorer 8 and later (IE 11 recommended)
  • Firefox 31 or higher
  • Opera 8 or higher
  • Google Chrome:
    • Supported in all versions running on Vista and later by default
    • OS X 10.5.7 in Chrome Version 5.0.342.0 and later
  • Safari 6 and later (requires OS X 10.5.6 and later or Windows Vista and later)

Mobile Browsers

  • Mobile Safari for iOS 4.0 or higher (6.0.1+ recommended)
  • Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) or higher (4.0.4+ recommended)
  • Windows Phone 7 or higher

Note: These free SSL certificates are not meant for eCommerce. As eCommerce is regulated under federal laws to meet or exceed compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), it is often required by your Payment Gateway Provider to have a Static IP and a higher grade SSL Certificate issued from a high assurance Certificate Authority. Please contact us for pricing on PCI-DSS compliant eCommerce Hosting and eCommerce SSL Certificates.
