RESOLVED: Power Failure Sept 14 2015

Power Failure

Scarab Media experienced a power failure in a server rack at one of our data centers at approximately 5:38 pm PDT (-7 GMT). Our redundant systems resumed operation upon detection of the failure and most services experienced only a brief interruption lasting approximately 30 – 60 seconds. Due to a hardware failure our Incoming Mail Gateway Servers however did not resume operation as they should resulting in a much more prolonged outage. After the replacing of equipment all Incoming Mail Gateways were fully operational by 9:34 pm PDT. As most Mail Servers attempt multiple re-delivery attempts of email, because of situations as this, any anticipated inbound email sent should be received upon their next delivery attempt.

We will be looking into adding more Incoming Mail Gateways distributed across multiple data centers in the upcoming weeks to prevent any future delays in receiving inbound email.
